Learn moreWhat are carbon credits?
Carbon credits are tradable certificates representing the right to emit one ton of carbon dioxide or equivalent greenhouse gas. They are generated by projects that reduce, remove, or avoid greenhouse gas emissions.
How are carbon credits verified?
Carbon credits are verified by independent third-party organizations according to established standards such as Gold Standard, Verra, and others. These organizations ensure that the projects genuinely reduce emissions and meet specific criteria.
How does tokenization of carbon credits work?
Tokenization involves representing carbon credits as digital tokens on the Solana blockchain. Each token represents a specific amount of carbon offset (typically 1 ton of CO2e). This makes carbon credits more accessible, transparent, and easier to trade.
What fees does Carbon Nation charge?
Carbon Nation charges a small fee on transactions (0.3% for swaps, 0.5% for marketplace purchases). These fees help maintain the platform and support the development of new features. Additionally, there are standard Solana network fees for transactions.
